About Me

My grandparents were born and raised in Spain. In their early years, they immigrated to Cuba, where my parents were born. In 1962, soon after a governmental regime change, my family moved to the United States. I was born and raised in New Orleans, and from an early age, my family instilled in me a great love and passion for the Spanish language and culture. This is why, by the age of 18, I had a mastery of both English and Spanish.

I studied Spanish in high school and college and graduated from college with degrees in Sociology and Health Promotion. I worked for over 12 years in health care as a Licensed Exercise Physiologist specializing in Cardiac Rehabilitation and later became a Clinical Hypnotherapist. These careers have helped me greatly in my work as an interpreter because I was often called on to interpret for non-English speakers and when I had Spanish- speaking clients. In 2006, while living in Denver, seeing the huge need for Spanish interpreting, I opened a new door- medical interpreting as a full-time career.

In 2007, my husband and I moved to Virginia where I continued interpreting. In 2011, eager for more knowledge and a challenge, I self-studied and obtained my Virginia  Certification in Spanish Court Interpreting and the National Certification for Spanish Medical Interpreters. While I lived in Denver, I became fascinated with American Sign Language and have since been involved with the Deaf community.

Today, interpreting is my profession, my business, my passion, and my new path in life. I look forward to working with you in the future and helping you with your interpreting needs.
